Vinyl panels are eagerly chosen as an alternative to standard panels, and even as a replacement for tiles, wood or cement flooring. Users appreciate their high resistance to mechanical damage and thermoplasticity while maintaining impeccable aesthetics.

Surface preparation

The first step is to prepare the substrate. The floor must be even (free from losses), dust-free and dry. Care should be taken to wipe off any grease and any traces of moisture. Then, the screed should be spread by using the putty. After the mass has been thoroughly spread, the whole thing should be primed with a primer that can be spread with a brush.

Installation of panels

After the surface is prepared, you can proceed to the installation of the panels. If the panels are made of MFP or OSB boards, it is recommended to screw them to the base with screws. However, in the case of vinyl panels, a special glue is enough for installation. It is a method that works well for underfloor heating and is resistant to moisture problems.

The key element is a kick of the right glue, which should usually be available in every good DIY store. The adhesive should be applied for as long as recommended by the manufacturer of the adhesive on the packaging. Finally, it is recommended to roll the entire floor surface with a pressure roller (the weight of which is at least several dozen kilograms). Such action results in the leveling of the panels and a stronger bond with the ground.

An alternative to using glue is to use the so-called floating system, which consists in joining the panels with press-fit locks. At the beginning, a mat should be placed under the panels, which allows you to even out any differences and protects against moisture. Optionally, you can add an additional acoustic layer to reduce sounds. Panels are placed on the prepared substrate. It is especially important that the panels are laid from the corner with the panels containing the tongue facing the wall.

Final work

After successful installation, the installation wedges are removed and the floor strips are installed. After all, it remains to clean the floor from dust and dirt. Practice shows that vinyl planks allow you to enjoy a high-quality floor for many years.
